Oroquieta city is the capital of the province Misamis Occidental Philipines also known as City of good life,it has 47 barangays and it has a population of 70,757 people according to the 2015 cencus.
HISTORY
The original name of Oroquieta is layawan when it was a bario which is mean a "A place of stray animals".After a few later Misamis Occidental is divided into two province the Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental then layawan is become a town at the year 1880 and change it's name into Oroquieta.
